The fall often brings about a sense of change, or more
specifically of transformation. It’s a
time where we begin to prepare for the winter season ahead. The days get shorter, the air gets colder and
so naturally we begin to slow down, move inside. The element associated with this season is
metal, and the movement is one of contraction and introspection but also of
letting go. Just as the trees let go of
their leaves which they’ve spent all of spring and summer bringing into fruition,
the fall is a time to release. The tree doesn’t struggle to hold on, knowing it
is simply time. The cycle has completed.
Autumn is mother natures transformation or rest point between the seasons. Allow this invitation to review and take stock of your goals and intentions. We often do a fall clean up around the house to prepare for the season ahead and so it can be likened to the same process, only it’s our internal cleanup! Ask yourself what can be let go of at this time, what has come to completion, be it projects, emotional patterns or goals that you are no longer aligned with. What would you like to harvest, what brings you meaning. What do you want to nurture over the winter that can begin to come to life in the spring?
The element of this season is also associated with the lungs and by extension, the breath and connection to spirit. The rhythm of receiving with every inhale and letting go with every exhale can be seen as a practice in detachment as well as cultivating internal awareness. Simply by taking time to breathe, to pause and observe. Now if you are thinking, yeah that’s great but who has time for that?! That’s a great place to start! Why don’t you have time? If you are the hub of the wheel and everything else is attached to that center, what happens when the center is off balance? Re-evaluate where your time goes, what are the priorities and put your well being on the top of that list because everything else you touch comes from that place. Embrace the season and allow the natural influence to guide you towards rest, reflection and release! www.blossomingspiritfengshui.com
